Sometimes the best part of a story is everything you think about after it's over.
That's really where Beyond Canon started.
I've always loved the feeling of finishing a great story and realizing I'm not quite ready to leave it behind.
Maybe it's a character I understand differently after seeing where their journey ends. Maybe it's a world that somehow feels much larger than the story we were shown. Or sometimes it's one small moment that sticks with me far longer than I expected.
I wanted somewhere to explore those thoughts.
Not just whether an anime was good.
But why it mattered to me.
Going Beyond the Story
Beyond Canon isn't about finding the correct interpretation of an anime.
I'm not sure there always is one.
It's about looking a little closer at the stories we love and sharing what I found interesting about them.
Why did this character connect with me?
Why did this arc change how I felt about the series?
Why does one fictional world feel so much more alive than another?
And why, years later, do certain scenes still come back to us?
Those are the conversations I'm interested in having.
Sometimes that means a deeper Reflection on one idea.
Sometimes it's something lighter—a ranking, a list, or simply exploring an anime I love.
Over time, I want Beyond Canon to become somewhere you can come after discovering a great series and simply think: I want to explore this world a little more.
Behind Beyond Canon
I didn't grow up watching every anime I could find.
I really discovered how much I loved anime later.
And maybe that's part of why I've enjoyed reflecting on it so much.
The more I watched, the more I realized that the series I loved most weren't necessarily the ones with the biggest fights or the best animation.
They were the ones that stayed with me.
One Piece became the clearest example of that.
What began as an anime I wasn't even sure I liked eventually became the story that made me want to talk about fictional worlds, characters and ideas long after I had finished an episode.
Beyond Canon grew from that feeling.
It's starting with anime because that's where my passion is today.
Where it eventually goes, we'll find out.
Come Explore
You'll probably see two small companions around here from time to time.
A curious baby dragon who's usually ready for the next adventure.
And a cat who might prefer to think about it first.
They're part of Beyond Canon too.
But mostly, this is a place for people who know the feeling of reaching the end of a great episode, arc or series...
...and still wanting a little more.
The story may be over.
